 No Service Issues

If you find yourself without service, there are a few things you will want to check first:

  • First, make sure the router working properly and that you're able to connect to it. Sometimes service issues can occur when the router has failed. We see this often after large storms roll through and create power surges. Also make certain that the internet light is lit up on your router. On some routers, this light may have a label that reads "WAN" or "INTERNET". In other cases, such as on a Netgear router, it may look like a lower-case letter " i " with a swooping half circle beneath it. It's normal if this light is randomly flashing on a a Netgear.
  • The second thing to do, if you've determined the router is working, is make sure your computer is actually connected to the local network. Check the network icons on the taskbar if you're using Windows, or make sure there's a check beside the network name under you AirPort list if you're using a Mac.
  • Another thing to check is that the Motorola power supply for our equipment is plugged in, and if so, has a green light on it while plugged in to the power. This power supply will generally be plugged in to power alongside your router. If there is a light on the power supply, try unplugging it, waiting 30 seconds, then plugging it back in.
  • If you're on wireless and your connection randomly drops off, this could be wireless interferrence. Make sure you haven't purchased any new devices that could be interferring with it. These can be wireless home theater speakers, baby monitors, older cordless phones, and other wireless devices (cell phones will not affect your wifi). Another thing to check is the signal strength and see if getting closer to the wifi helps.
